Commerce is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build and evolve Catalyst's hosting infrastructure. Join our small, highly collaborative team as we work across Next.js, developer tooling, and hosting services to power scalable ecommerce experiences.
What You'll Do
- Design and build backend services that enable deploying scalable, secure, and performant storefront experiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Commerce and Makeswift teams to integrate hosting with developer and merchant tooling.
- Explore edge compute platforms and distributed systems patterns to deliver resilient, multi-tenant infrastructure.
- Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested Go code, with an emphasis on reliability and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and documentation to ensure alignment and share knowledge.
- Support a range of use cases, from developer-driven workflows to fully managed, no-code deployments.
What We're Looking For
- Experience building backend services in Go.
- Understanding of the basics of distributed systems, HTTP infrastructure, and CI/CD workflows.
- Ability to design clear, composable APIs that are easy to maintain and evolve.
- Strong debugging skills and experience monitoring and operating services in production.
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Proactive approach to seeking feedback, asking thoughtful questions, and reflecting on team practices.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with cloud platforms or edge compute (e.g., Cloudflare Workers, Lambda, Vercel).
- Experience with Cloudflare APIs and Workers for Platforms.
- Experience with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tooling.
- Experience with Next.js or other modern web frameworks.
- Experience with Developer experience tools or SDKs.
- A Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS; equivalent experience; or completion of a comprehensive software engineering boot camp.
