Responsibilities
- Work on core product systems using Kubernetes, Go, and Python
- Practice end-to-end ownership, from concept to observability, across the stack
- Use Terraform for repeatable, safe, infrastructure-as-code installations, including bring-your-own-cloud (BYOC) offering
- Contribute reviewed code
- Pair with experienced engineers
- Have a dedicated mentor
- Apply and understand Kubernetes fundamentals such as Deployments, Services, reading cluster state with kubectl, logs, and resource limits
- Make small manifest or Helm chart changes under review
- Contribute to Go or Python services through backend development
- Implement bug fixes, test implementation, develop small Command Line Interface (CLI) subcommands, or add features behind a flag
- Gain exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) by improving Terraform module variables or documentation
- Address environment drift in development or staging
- Add validation to IaC
- Simulate customer install scenarios in a sandbox
- Learn differences between SaaS and customer-deployed infrastructure
- Improve installation documentation
- Enhance diagnostics scripts
- Develop internal tooling for customer clusters
- Build essential Observability Practices by adding metrics, log fields, or trace spans
- Connect observability components to dashboards
- Document changes with short runbook notes
- Own a slice of work: clarify requirements, implement solution, validate in cluster, anticipate potential failure points
- Write and test software
- Analyze logs and dashboards
- Engage in cross-functional collaboration
- Practice debugging beyond local environments
- Optionally work on stretch opportunities such as async jobs, ingress, or orchestration with senior engineers
- Work on queue consumer with retry/idempotency logic
- Build related admin tooling
- Implement small ingress-related changes
- Work on emerging areas like proxying, task queues, and orchestration
