About the Role
The engineer will contribute to the development and maintenance of backend systems powering map data and API functionality, ensuring high performance and usability for developers integrating mapping tools.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services for mapping APIs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API features
- Improve system reliability and performance under high load
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Diagnose and resolve production issues in distributed systems
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
- Support developer experience through clear API design
- Maintain documentation for internal and external users
- Optimize data pipelines for geographic information systems
- Integrate monitoring and observability into services
- Ensure API consistency across platforms and use cases
- Contribute to incident response and on-call rotations
- Evaluate new technologies for backend improvements
- Follow security best practices in service development
- Work with product teams to prioritize engineering tasks
- Help define service level objectives and metrics
- Refactor legacy systems for better maintainability
- Support internal tools used by engineering teams
- Contribute to deployment and CI/CD processes
- Collaborate on API versioning and deprecation strategies
- Assist in onboarding new engineers to the platform
