About the Role

Nevada State University is looking for a Social Media Specialist to manage our official social media presence and support our mission. You will produce platform-specific content, engage with our community, and collaborate across campus to elevate our brand and support recruitment.

What You'll Do

  • Produce, edit, and publish multimedia content, including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy, for our official social media channels.
  • Manage day-to-day account operations, including monitoring comments and messages, responding appropriately, and escalating sensitive issues.
  • Meet with internal and external community members to gather content, fulfill project requests, and attend events for content capture.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Events, Development & Alumni, Admissions & Recruitment, and other campus stakeholders to support campaigns and communication cycles.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional social media experience.
  • Deep understanding of social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
  • Proven track record in developing social media marketing strategies and programs.
  • Experience with copywriting and editing to match a defined style guide's tone, look, and voice.
  • Experience capturing photos and videos for social media use.
  • Knowledge of accessibility implementation in social media, including video captioning.
  • Experience using social media monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and major social platforms.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice to Have

  • Creative expertise on the technical aspects of social media marketing, execution, and development.
  • Experience building online interaction among students, instructors, and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing.
