About the Role

Medford School District (549C) is looking for a Social Emotional Learning Advocate to serve as a key resource for school personnel. In this role, you will provide consultation, coaching, and modeling to build effective classroom management strategies and support student wellness across all tiers.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a resource to school personnel, students, and parents on pro-social behavior and social-emotional learning.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based Student Success Plans.
  • Design and deliver instruction for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 behavioral and emotional supports.
  • Observe students and collect data on behavior and program effectiveness.
  • Provide consultation, coaching, and targeted interventions to school staff.
  • Offer crisis support, including assistance with risk assessments and safety plans.
  • Collaborate with Response to Intervention (RTI) teams for pre-referral and special education evaluation processes.
  • Develop and conduct professional development as directed.
  • Provide daily supervision, training, and coaching to support staff.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and district in-service programs.
  • Assist in developing district and school programs.
  • Improve professional skills through workshops and continuing education.
  • Establish clear learning objectives and provide a variety of instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
  • Develop and support effective classroom management strategies.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, students, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Cooperate with and support faculty members.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
  • Understand and apply District policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct support to classrooms as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Applied Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, mental health, or a related field.
  • Successful experience working with students who have challenging behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, community members, students, and law enforcement.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic math using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • General computer knowledge and ability to use database software, email, internet browsers, spreadsheets, and word processors.
  • Oregon TSPC licensure in elementary/secondary education, special education, school counseling, school psychology, or a related field.
  • Must have or be eligible for CPI certification.

Nice to Have

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.

Team & Environment

You will be supervised by the building Principal and directed by the Student Wellness Coordinator.
