About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure our critical business operations are supported by highly available, scalable, and secure systems. In this remote role within the US, you will collaborate closely with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to enhance reliability, optimize performance, and drive automation, contributing to both hands-on deployments and long-term strategic initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Engineering and Security teams to establish and apply SRE principles, processes, and security controls.
  • Support the implementation and onboarding of security tools and technologies.
  • Build and maintain monitoring tools to report on system performance and key reliability metrics.
  • Provide on-call emergency response and handle incident escalation as needed.
  • Plan and execute configuration changes at both application and infrastructure levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for SRE processes and tools.
  • Participate in the hiring process by reviewing candidates and conducting interviews.
  • Enhance documentation, including runbooks and application guides, focusing on clarity and rationale.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
  • Proven experience managing and securing cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
  • Hands-on knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub CI, CircleCI).
  • Strong background supporting Linux production systems, including firewall, access control, and encryption management.
  • Practical understanding of security practices within the software development lifecycle and IT security domains.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and JavaScript.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with security standards and compliance programs like SOC2, ISO 27001, and PCI is advantageous.
