ecobee, a subsidiary of Generac, is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the high availability, scalability, and security of our systems. You will drive cultural change towards operational excellence, automate infrastructure, and work closely with backend development teams on architectural and systems design.
What You'll Do
- Drive on-call health initiatives and contribute directly to the code base.
- Guide services to production readiness and build common tooling for all of engineering.
- Improve automation of systems, from developing automation systems to addressing scalability challenges.
- Craft new architectures for storing customer data.
- Work closely with backend development teams on architectural and systems design.
- Investigate the root cause of complex problems and solve them to improve user experience.
- Research new technologies and influence the technical direction of the SRE team and company.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with physical servers and network equipment to scale and tune infrastructure components like platform backend and Kubernetes clusters.
- Experience with automation of cloud services and/or configuration management and orchestration using tools like Ansible, Salt, Terraform, or Helm.
- Demonstrate best practices for observability and metrics collection and analysis.
- Experience investigating the root cause of complex problems and solving them.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in Java, Go, or Python for solving problems and developing internal tooling.
- Containerization and Kubernetes experience to act as a mentor to colleagues.
