Fidelity is hiring a Director, Site Reliability Engineering to safeguard the end-to-end resiliency and performance of customer transactions critical to the firm's competitiveness and reputation. You will act as an advisor, working closely with developers and architects to influence the creation of reliable products, standardize common solutions, and drive adoption of resiliency principles.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with developers and architects across the firm influencing development of reliable products.
- Standardize common solutions and patterns, and drive adoption of resiliency and dependability principles.
- Provide holistic perspective to application teams, wearing the customer’s hat and transcending organizational boundaries.
- Develop products and tools that can observe and measure the availability of Critical Business Services to reduce issue resolution time.
- Bridge the gap between lofty architecture ideas and development of feasible solutions.
- Facilitate discussions among component owners to improve end-to-end understanding of transaction paths.
- Provide consulting to architects and developers on common patterns and tactical, reusable solutions.
- Influence adoption of stability principles by presenting facts and data.
- Drive operational readiness discussions and reviews of new solutions and products.
- Develop frameworks for self-assessment of applications on various stability and dependability pillars.
- Participate in discussions and decisions that impact customer experience.
- Challenge long- and widely-held assumptions without disregarding historical rationale.
- Selectively preserve and share collective memory and successes of the past.
- Develop knowledge hubs such as E2E topology diagrams to improve team efficiency.
- Drive adoption of industry and Fidelity SRE practices across diverse applications and platforms.
- Manage crisis and drive mitigation during high-severity complex incidents.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technology related field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in crafting, developing, and supporting mission-critical solutions in multiple technology platforms, frameworks, and languages.
- Hands-on experience with Public Cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration.
- Experience operating and implementing distributed & highly concurrent service-based architectures, including microservices, containerized services, and/or serverless architectures.
- Subject matter expertise in products that operate at boundaries of disparate technology platforms.
- Proven experience in developing transaction paths that span across cloud and on-prem.
- Demonstrated and extensive knowledge of APIs, microservice architecture, gateways, and routers.
