Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is looking for a Simulation Nurse Educator to support education, patient safety, and quality improvement within our Cancer Surgery service. In this role, you will coordinate, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based education to enhance clinical skills, teamwork, and systems of care.
What You'll Do
- Support the design, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of simulation activities across the surgical service.
- Collaborate with nurses, medical staff, allied health, and stakeholders to develop tailored simulation experiences for education, training, and quality improvement.
- Use simulation to proactively identify and address latent safety risks and improve systems of care.
- Provide strong clinical and educational leadership.
- Promote evidence-based practice and foster a culture of learning and innovation.
- Support ongoing professional development for self and others.
What We're Looking For
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of five years clinical experience in perioperative and/or critical care nursing.
- Minimum of three years experience in clinical simulation.
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing and/or health professions education.
- Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, coordinate, and evaluate simulation-based education for adult learners using contemporary educational principles.
- Proven experience in project coordination, including scheduling, resource and time management, and managing competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Nice to Have
- Advanced Life Support Instructor/Director certification.
- Simulation graduate certificate or post graduate qualifications.
- Previous experience in a similar position.
- Member of relevant professional organisations (e.g., ACPAN, VPNG, ANZCA, ACORN).

Team & Environment
You’ll join a dynamic, multidisciplinary simulation team within Cancer Surgery, including a Medical Perioperative Simulation Lead, Associate Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Educator, Practice Development Nurses, and Clinical Nurse Specialists. You will report professionally to the Director of Nursing Education and operationally to the Nurse Unit Manager – Anaesthetics/PACU, working closely with the Perioperative Simulation Lead.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: Up to $26,182.82 (annualized full-time equivalent – to be pro-rated for part time)
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at our Parkville facility.
