The ServiceNow Developer/Administrator II is responsible for the ongoing configuration, development, and maintenance of the ServiceNow platform within a large healthcare and research environment. This role ensures system reliability, security, and performance while supporting both technical and functional teams across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Configure, customize, and maintain ServiceNow instances across production and non-production environments
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, serving as an escalation point for complex support cases
- Lead or support system upgrades, patching, and component enhancements, including plug-ins and integrations
- Collaborate with database, security, and systems teams to optimize application performance
- Manage code migrations, environment builds, testing cycles, and deployment processes
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable system solutions
- Design and implement technical improvements to support evolving infrastructure needs
- Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and testing plans
- Participate in on-call rotations to support after-hours system needs
- Lead or contribute to project planning, estimation, and implementation efforts
- Support continuous improvement through retrospectives, knowledge sharing, and peer training
- Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to internal and external technical communities
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on ServiceNow development and administration experience
- ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator (CSA) certification required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Experience with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with relational databases, web services, and multi-tier application architectures
- Understanding of cloud and on-premise application support models
- Ability to participate in on-call support as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in healthcare or higher education environments
- Proficiency in ServiceNow configuration, architecture, and customization
- Experience with structured programming languages and scripting
- Familiarity with ITIL Foundations concepts
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), Certified Application Developer (CAD), or equivalent credential preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver consistent results
