NECSWS is hiring a Senior User Researcher to champion user-centred design within our multidisciplinary digital teams. You will be responsible for planning, facilitating, and leading user research activities on complex projects, helping to define and refine our inclusive and accessible research practices.
What You'll Do
- Plan, facilitate, and lead user research activities on a variety of projects.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and clients in the pursuit of inclusive, accessible, and effective research outcomes.
- Support the user research team by inspiring and line managing team members, including overseeing appraisals and professional development.
- Help define the way disciplines work together and progress how NEC Digital Studio delivers inclusive, accessible, and effective design.
- Help identify and win projects by spotting opportunities with clients and assisting with proposals and pitches.
- Support the Design School with the development and delivery of courses.
- Work collaboratively with the wider design team, experts, and clients to produce clear insights for informed design decisions.
- Manage stakeholders, negotiating and guiding them towards positive outcomes within budget.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in delivering user research projects.
- Experience leading and advocating for user research activities within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience conducting inclusive and ethical user research, including identifying accessibility needs and making adjustments.
- Experience planning and conducting user research to GDS service standards across agile project phases.
- Skilled in qualitative analysis and synthesis to produce user journeys, stories, and needs.
- Skilled in facilitation of various sessions (interviews, usability testing, co-analysis).
- Ability to write and share findings in an engaging and meaningful way.
- Proactive and autonomous, able to lead conversations and add value.
- Experience in stakeholder management, guiding clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in UCD projects.
Nice to Have
- Interest or experience in service design thinking and outcomes.
Team & Environment
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including Service Design and Digital roles, supported by senior members of the User Research team.

- Compensation: £46,000 - £65,000 yearly.
