Responsibilities
- Evaluate engineering designs for compliance with international trade regulations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate compliance into product development
- Maintain accurate records of export control classifications
- Support audits and regulatory reviews related to trade compliance
- Interpret technical specifications to determine export licensing needs
- Develop and deliver training materials on trade compliance for engineering staff
- Monitor changes in global trade laws affecting product design and manufacturing
- Work with legal and supply chain teams to resolve compliance issues
- Ensure proper classification of technical data and software under export controls
- Assist in the development of internal tools to streamline compliance workflows
- Lead compliance assessments during new product introduction phases
- Provide guidance on jurisdiction and classification for dual-use technologies
- Document compliance procedures and update as regulations evolve
- Support incident reporting and remediation for trade-related deviations
- Engage with external consultants and authorities on technical compliance matters
- Promote a culture of compliance awareness within engineering departments
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in engineering or business-related field
- Professional certification in compliance, such as CEV or CECO
- Direct experience in defense or industrial manufacturing sector
- Advanced knowledge of ITAR-controlled technical data handling
- Experience with automated compliance tracking systems
