Samsung Electronics Canada is hiring a Senior System Engineer focused on RAN Virtualization and OAM/OSS. In this lead technical role, you will operate as a subject matter expert within a multi-functional wireless network team, guiding system architecture and design for 3GPP LTE and 5G RAN network management products.
What You'll Do
- Operate as a subject matter expert within a multi-functional team of R&D, Systems Engineering, and product validation to introduce Samsung products to Wireless Carriers.
- Own system architecture and design with emphasis on Network Element OAM and OSS integration.
- Provide technical guidance to the team to ensure deliverables are met.
- Develop product requirements, feature requirements, and conduct systems and performance analysis.
- Conduct deep-dive customer sessions and lead new technology introductions for 4G/5G RAN Network Management features and virtualized networks (VNF/CNF).
- Analyze customer requirements, convert them into system requirements, and capture detailed design for the development team.
- Technically manage new products and software releases to ensure delivered features meet expected performance.
- Provide technical support in the pre-sales process and create compelling technical solutions to help achieve sales goals.
- Translate complex technical designs between the Samsung sales team and carriers’ network business teams.
- Partner closely with various support organizations, logistics, and cross-functional teams from SEA and Samsung HQ for successful product roll-outs.
- Travel sporadically during project execution.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 8+ years of experience.
- Experience with OAMP/FCAPS subsystem design and development in wireless networks.
- Experience with TNM protocols and NMS/OSS interfaces.
- Exposure to High Availability and redundancy systems.
- Detailed understanding in managing Openstack/Kubernetes environments.
- Must have experience with virtualized solutions in Wireless Networks.
- Must have experience working with R&D teams, finalizing feature roadmaps, and presenting in technical deep-dive sessions to customers.
- Solid understanding of Netconf protocol, YANG models, REST APIs, and VES (Virtual Event Streaming).
- Must have experience working with Pre-Sales technical teams for RFP responses.
- Exposure towards public (AWS, Azure) and private / on-prem cloud installation and configuration.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Virtualized RAN Application Management / OAM design and development is highly beneficial.
- Experience in configuring virtual switches, network connections, Virtual port types (SR-IOV, virtio), Security Groups, and VLANs is beneficial.
- Experience or understanding in managing OpenStack / Kubernetes environments is highly beneficial.
- Experience authoring SW upgrade procedures and performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for high-severity issues in commercial networks is beneficial.
- Understanding of 3GPP systems: Core and RAN networks, architecture, and protocols is beneficial.
- Experience in SW development with Java and web-based applications is beneficial.
