Bureau Veritas is seeking a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our North American team. This role combines strategic vision for sustainability advisory with deep technical expertise in greenhouse gas verification and environmental data assurance, supporting organizations in achieving their climate commitments.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with client business objectives.
- Conduct sustainability assessments to identify opportunities for emissions reduction and resource efficiency.
- Advise on sustainable business frameworks and best practices.
- Support clients in setting science-based targets and net-zero commitments.
- Provide guidance on sustainability reporting standards and platforms.
- Lead GHG emissions verification projects in accordance with international standards.
- Conduct independent third-party audits of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions inventories.
- Assess data quality, monitoring systems, and documentation completeness.
- Verify carbon offset projects and renewable energy credits.
- Prepare verification reports and provide assurance statements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and voluntary reporting schemes.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Provide training and capacity-building to client teams.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in GHG verification, sustainability consulting, or environmental auditing.
- ISO 14064-3 Lead Auditor or equivalent GHG verification certification.
- Strong technical knowledge of GHG accounting methodologies and standards.
- Proficiency in emissions calculation tools and software.
- Knowledge of climate science and carbon markets.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks.
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- ISO 14001 or other relevant environmental management certifications.
- Knowledge of industry-specific emissions standards.
- Experience with renewable energy, carbon offsetting, or circular economy initiatives.
- Multilingual capabilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
