About the Role

Cloudera is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer - Control Plane to architect the backbone of our multi-cloud and hybrid data management platform. In this role, you will lead the design of complex, large-scale cloud services and drive technical innovation. You will be part of a team empowering enterprises to transform complex data into actionable insights, fueled by open-source innovation.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex, large-scale cloud services for our multi-cloud and hybrid data management platform.
  • Develop and implement core platform components, tackling challenges in data governance, security, and distributed systems.
  • Drive technical innovation by prototyping and evaluating new technologies and cloud-native solutions.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and resilient solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • MSc/BSc degree in computer science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in large scale distributed projects.
  • Strong background in public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), with expertise in security, infrastructure provisioning, and containerization.
  • Advanced Java programming skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux environments, networking, virtual machines, container technologies (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD solutions like Jenkins or Github Actions.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including production operations, monitoring, alerting, and participating in an on-call rotation.
  • You are a proactive problem-solver who can independently identify, define, and drive projects forward with minimal guidance.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve challenging issues in large-scale, distributed cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across different geographies.
  • Passion for coaching and developing team members to achieve their full potential.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Go, Python and Typescript is a plus.
