Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to lead architectural design and implementation for backend services that power next-generation products. In this role, you will balance high-level system design with hands-on coding to drive scalable solutions and complex projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead architectural design and implementation of backend services that support next-generation products.
- Deliver complex, multi-team projects that enhance customer experience and operational scalability.
- Advocate for system and API designs that prioritize simplicity and maintainability.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience building and evolving production software with Go and Python.
- Skilled in leveraging SaaS platforms and cloud infrastructure to optimize solutions.
- Familiarity with payment systems like Stripe or Recurly and their integration capabilities.
- Strong customer-focused mindset in engineering decisions.
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and writing performant SQL queries.
- Ability to evaluate build-versus-buy tradeoffs and drive action-oriented development.
- Comfortable working across technical stacks and communicating clearly with diverse teams.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality code and outcomes aligned with customer needs.
