Affirm is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (CI/CD)

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (CI/CD) to join our Developer Productivity team. You will build the tools and platforms that sit between a developer’s laptop and production, empowering over 900 engineers with robust CI/CD pipelines, development environments, and test automation systems.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics and supporting on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards for your team.
• Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Track record of developing and supporting highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, GCP, Azure, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Active experience building scalable infrastructure components including pipelines (Jenkins, Buildkite, GitHub Actions), configuration management, and automation.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design.
• Proficient at making significant changes in a large code base, and have developed a suite of tools and practices to do so safely.
• Experience demonstrates taking ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

• Compensation: USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $190,000 - $240,000; USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $169,000 - $219,000 + equity (Equity Grade 8).
