Samsara is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Global Compliance team. You will develop the systems that allow our customers to record, monitor, and report on commercial driver drive times, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements. In this role, you will work across the entire Samsara technology stack, from firmware and cloud back-end to mobile applications.
What You'll Do
- Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to build and deliver features across firmware, back-end, browser, and mobile platforms.
- Solve complex, ambiguous problems to enable our product for a global customer base.
- Maintain the production systems you own and uphold a high bar for system operation.
- Coach, mentor, and guide engineers within the team, contributing to their professional growth.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience designing and building products within a skilled software engineering team.
- Strong programming fundamentals in a language such as Java, Python, or Golang.
- Proven ability to solve difficult, ambiguous problems in a methodical manner.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, distributed systems.
- Ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team.
- A proactive growth mindset focused on improving the status quo.
- Experience with building ML/AI-enabled products.
- Skill in improving operational health, observability, and cost efficiency to keep systems scalable.
- Demonstrated ability to help develop the technical skills of newer engineering team members.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
- Background in developing, deploying, and maintaining distributed, highly scalable software.
