About the Role
This position involves leading the development and execution of roadway engineering projects, ensuring designs meet technical standards and client requirements while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and design of roadway and highway projects
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Conduct field reviews and site investigations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Coordinate with survey, drainage, and structural disciplines
- Manage project timelines and deliverables
- Review contractor submittals and construction documents
- Support environmental documentation and permitting efforts
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Oversee the preparation of construction plans and details
- Apply geometric design principles for safe and efficient roadways
- Utilize transportation modeling and analysis tools
- Prepare technical reports and design memoranda
- Participate in design meetings with clients and agencies
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
- Ensure quality control in design deliverables
- Respond to construction-phase engineering inquiries
- Integrate safety analysis into design processes
- Support value engineering and constructability reviews
- Stay current with industry standards and design guidelines
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in civil or transportation engineering
- PE license in multiple states
- Experience with intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and design visualization
- Project experience in the western United States
- Experience with design-build project delivery
- Knowledge of roundabout and complex interchange design
- Certification in transportation engineering (P.E., PTOE)
- Experience with drone-based survey data
- Leadership in multidisciplinary project teams
