Parsons Transportation Group is looking for a Senior Roadway Engineer to lead and manage the design and development of complex roadway projects. You will work on a variety of urban and rural roadways, highways, and interstate systems, ensuring they meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead the full design lifecycle of roadway projects, including concept, preliminary and final design, alignment, grading, and pavement design.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess progress and address issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT requirements.
- Assist in preparing project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project reviews.
What We're Looking For
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 8+ years of related work experience in roadway design engineering, including project management.
- Solid roadway geometric design background.
- Proficiency in roadway design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, Open Roads).
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT design standards and guidelines.
- Intermediate skills with Excel (macros, equations).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Nice to Have
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate team members in completion of project tasks.
- Experience providing training and leading technical discussions related to roadway engineering.
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) experience.
