Canada Life is hiring a Senior Project Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead medium to large, medium to high-risk Technology, Security, and Risk projects, working with business leaders, technology teams, and external partners to ensure successful delivery.
  • Apply strong business and technical acumen to ensure outcomes align with project Business Cases and strategic objectives.
  • Work with sponsors and delivery leaders to develop Business Cases and Project Charters, including scope, objectives, delivery approach, and success measures.
  • Build and manage integrated project plans, including cost estimates, budgets, schedules, and resourcing.
  • Oversee project financials—capitalization, amortization, accruals, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with governance and risk stakeholders to ensure project alignment with corporate standards, technology controls, and risk frameworks.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments in partnership with Technology Risk and Security teams.
  • Monitor progress, manage issues and dependencies, and provide clear, timely reporting to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Champion organizational change, support continuous improvement, and contribute to evolving delivery practices.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve team efficiency and project execution.
  • Develop strong relationships and manage stakeholders through clear, consistent, and professional communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of Project Management experience in an IT environment; experience in Infrastructure, Cyber Security, or IT Risk is an asset.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Agile (Scrum, Kanban), Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language for executive audiences.
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and adapting to evolving priorities.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on value delivery, risk management, and strategic partnership.
  • Advanced financial management skills, including capital project oversight.
  • Experience with risk assessment and management practices.
  • Proven success delivering medium to high complexity projects with cross portfolio change impacts.
  • Experience in resource planning and team performance management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Jira, Confluence, Clarity, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work effectively within a virtual and geographically distributed team.
