About the Role

This role is responsible for leading payroll functions across the United States and Canada, ensuring timely and accurate processing, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with HR and finance teams to support organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees
  • Ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on schedule each pay cycle
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to maintain employee data integrity
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
  • Support audits by providing detailed payroll records and reconciliations
  • Stay current with federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations
  • Manage payroll tax filings and resolve any discrepancies
  • Lead payroll system upgrades and enhancements
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries
  • Maintain documentation for payroll policies and procedures
  • Assist in year-end reporting and W-2/1099 preparation
  • Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and resolve employee concerns
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws
  • Partner with external vendors and auditors as needed
  • Support international payroll considerations for remote workers
  • Monitor payroll controls and recommend risk mitigation strategies
  • Train team members on payroll systems and workflows
  • Analyze payroll data for reporting and forecasting
  • Support organizational changes such as mergers or restructuring
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive employee information
  • Drive adoption of best practices in payroll operations
  • Coordinate with benefits teams on deductions and contributions
  • Evaluate new payroll technologies and tools
  • Maintain strong internal controls around payroll disbursements
  • Assist with special projects related to finance and compliance
