RTX Corporation is looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to enhance manufacturing operations through data-driven process control. In this remote role, you will support the implementation of Multivariate Statistical Process Controls (MSPC), lead root cause investigations, and apply analytics to improve First Pass Yield and throughput.
What You'll Do
- Identify key process variables and create controls that alert owners to changes in process capability.
- Connect changes in component geometry to functional performance via correlation and emulation of aerodynamic & structural physics.
- Lead root cause investigations addressing low First Pass Yield, high Cost of Poor Quality, and low throughput.
- Gather and analyze large datasets, deploy investigative tools, and recommend solutions.
- Apply operations optimization and data analytics to support Continuous Improvement, Lean, and general business performance.
- Responsible for project planning, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and influencing management to implement solutions.
- Develop Multivariate Process Controls using both traditional SPC rules and custom methods.
- Relate Key Process Inputs to Process Outputs with tools like PFMEAs or Characteristics Matrices.
- Identify relationships between Part Geometry and Part Performance with Designed Experiments (DOE) and statistical modeling.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis requests to support business improvement objectives.
- Collaborate with OpX process control teams at module centers and with external suppliers to improve existing SPC processes.
- Travel up to 25% to MOD Centers, Suppliers, and Onsite Events.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, aerospace) or similar discipline and 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations OR a Master's degree and 3+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proficiency in mathematical/statistical software such as Minitab, JMP, or MATLAB.
- Experience with databases/data warehouses and constructing queries.
- Experience leading root cause investigations, proposing corrective actions & technical solutions, and executing on implementation.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience delivering presentations to management, senior managers and executives.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Red-X Journeyman training & experience.
- Data analytics & statistical modeling skills with experience in Principal Component Analysis, Linear Regression, Partial Least Squares, and Gaussian Process Modeling.
- Database/data warehouse and query experience with Databricks, SQL, and Python.
