Apply is looking for a Senior Mendix Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Mendix applications. This role combines strong technical expertise with the ability to guide junior developers, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive best practices across the low-code application lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy Mendix applications using best-practice architecture and development patterns.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and high-quality Mendix solutions.
- Develop complex domain models, microflows, nanoflows, workflows, integrations, and UI components.
- Build custom components using Java actions and implement robust Mendix security models.
- Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and implement robust auditing, logging, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Build productized, reusable modules and design robust Mendix mobile apps with offline sync.
- Integrate Mendix applications with external systems via REST, SOAP, OData, Kafka, databases, and identity providers.
- Lead technical discussions with external teams on security, network, and infrastructure topics.
- Design, document, and publish APIs following REST/SOAP best practices.
- Mentor and coach junior and intermediate-level Mendix developers.
- Lead technical discussions, solution-design workshops, sprint planning, and refinement sessions.
- Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements.
- Promote and enforce Mendix development best practices and reusable components.
- Provide accurate effort estimation for tasks, user stories, enhancements, and bug resolutions.
- Ensure proper implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and branching strategies in Git.
- Perform systematic unit, integration, end-to-end, and System Integration Testing (SIT).
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs including integration, performance, and concurrency issues.
- Oversee application lifecycle management: branching, versioning, environment configuration, deployment, and rollback.
What We're Looking For
- Mendix Advanced or Expert certification (Expert strongly preferred).
- 3+ years of experience developing Mendix applications, with at least 1 complex application delivered to production.
- Expert-level knowledge of domain modeling, microflows, nanoflows, security model, Java actions, JavaScript actions, and Mendix best practices.
- Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
- Strong experience with REST/SOAP web services, API design, documentation, and best practices.
- Proficient in leveraging AI tools (Copilot, Grok, ChatGPT, Maia) to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation.
- Proven ability to design and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
- Strong Java and JavaScript proficiency for custom actions, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Advanced SQL skills including writing and optimizing complex queries, joins, and indexing.
- Hands-on experience with On-Premise and cloud environments (Mendix Cloud, Azure, or OpenShift).
- Solid understanding of Mendix architecture, integrations, APIs, security concepts, networking, certificates, firewalls, and proxy configurations.
- Experience performing multiple Mendix Major upgrades.
- Strong expertise in Mendix Mobile: offline/sync logic, performance optimization, security, secure mobile storage/encryption, and app store distribution.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder-management and facilitation skills for workshops and requirement sessions.
- Thrives in agile/scaled-agile and waterfall environments; adept at managing scope and expectations.
- Highly pro-active: identifies blockers, proposes solutions, and drives initiatives.
- Proven ability to work independently while leading technical workstreams.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience leading Mendix development teams.
- Experience with Mendix tools such as QSM.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and private cloud Mendix deployments.
- Participation in Mendix Capture the Flag (CTF) events or proven ability to demonstrate Mendix security vulnerability concepts.
