About the Role
This role involves creating and refining mask layouts for superconducting qubit devices, supporting the development of scalable quantum processors through close collaboration with design and fabrication teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed photomask layouts for superconducting quantum circuits
- Ensure layout accuracy and alignment with electrical design specifications
- Collaborate with process engineers to optimize fabrication compatibility
- Perform layout versus schematic (LVS) verification
- Conduct design rule checking (DRC) to meet foundry requirements
- Support tape-out processes for multi-layer mask sets
- Iterate layouts based on test results and feedback
- Maintain version control for layout documentation
- Work closely with physicists and device engineers
- Translate circuit schematics into physical mask patterns
- Optimize layout for yield and manufacturability
- Adhere to cleanroom-compatible design standards
- Integrate feedback from measurement and characterization teams
- Document layout design decisions and revisions
- Ensure electromagnetic isolation in physical layout
- Minimize parasitic effects through careful routing
- Utilize CAD tools for layout editing and simulation
- Support process development by providing layout test structures
- Align layout design with quantum coherence requirements
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
- Troubleshoot layout-related fabrication issues
- Ensure compliance with intellectual property guidelines
- Stay current with advancements in nanofabrication techniques
- Contribute to process design kit (PDK) improvements
- Assist in onboarding new team members to layout standards
