The Kubernetes infrastructure organization seeks a Senior Software Engineering Manager for our Cloud Platform Engineering group. This team develops and maintains backend infrastructure for deploying and managing hundreds of Kubernetes clusters hosting New Relic's applications across Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure's multi-cloud platform. Infrastructure components are open-source, with team members learning and contributing collaboratively. We champion asynchronous communication and individual independence while simultaneously fostering strong interpersonal connections through team gatherings and ceremonies. Our Engineering Managers represent a select group of technological leaders who shape market solutions and cultivate inclusive environments that maximize human potential. What you'll accomplish: - Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure supporting New Relic's product ecosystem - Drive software architecture and distributed systems design - Own Kubernetes Infrastructure platform strategy, providing architectural guidance for security, reliability, scalability - Contribute to operational efficiency, secure coding practices, and continuous improvement methodologies - Collaborate across organizations to innovate problem-solving approaches - Participate in live site meetings and integrate postmortem learnings - Continuously learn from and mentor talented professionals - Drive recruitment and talent development - Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify project requirements - Operate in agile, DevOps-oriented environments - Manage multi-cloud infrastructure processing billions of data points daily Requirements: - BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience - 10+ years professional software development/operations experience - 8+ years people management experience - Proficiency in Golang, Java, Python, Bash - Expertise in distributed software architecture and design - Strong DevOps experience with cloud-agnostic Kubernetes infrastructure - Deep understanding of containerization tools - Linux system administration background - Infrastructure as Code experience - Cloud provider security and performance expertise - Cross-timezone collaboration capabilities - Proven track record of achieving ambitious goals - Coaching and mentoring capabilities Bonus qualifications: - CI/CD tools experience - Go programming language expertise - Kubernetes Controllers development - Linux and containerization understanding - Open-source development participation Estimated Base Pay Range: $20,200 - $252,000 USD We celebrate diversity, welcoming talented individuals from varied backgrounds.
