About the Role

Babcock International is hiring a Senior HR Business Partner to deliver the People Strategy for H&B Defence. You will play a central role in this unique joint‑venture environment, partnering with the Chief People Officer and senior leaders to shape and implement strategic HR initiatives that support the organisation’s mission to Transform Australia's industry for Nuclear Powered Submarines.

What You'll Do

  • Guide leaders through workforce planning, organisational design, and talent considerations.
  • Ensure consistency of people practices across the Joint Venture and foster a cohesive culture grounded in values.
  • Provide thoughtful analysis and insights to inform decision‑making and translate HR strategy into practical actions.
  • Navigate complex employment relations matters, including those involving secondees and shareholder representatives.
  • Lead and support change initiatives, applying structured methodologies to help the business adapt effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the people portfolio.
  • Model the organisation’s values, contribute to a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with Trade Control requirements.
  • Travel within Australia and overseas to engage with stakeholders across the JV.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in a HR Business Partner position at an operational level.
  • Significant exposure to broader HR functions and areas within a People and Safety Function.
  • Experience in developing, and documenting HR processes.
  • Experience interpreting relevant legislation, regulations, Awards, and Industrial Agreements.
  • A secondary qualification in HR such as a Diploma of Human Resources, or associated field is mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines.

  • Experience rolling out HR initiatives or projects.
  • Experience working in a joint-venture or alliance environment.
