Shape the future of defence capability through strategic people leadership. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of HR strategy across a unique joint-venture environment, working closely with the Chief People Officer and senior leaders. Your focus will be on aligning people practices with organisational goals, supporting transformation in support of Australia’s nuclear-powered submarine programme, and ensuring consistency across diverse teams and shareholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the People Strategy within a complex, multi-organisational structure
- Advise senior leaders on workforce planning, organisational design, and talent development
- Ensure HR frameworks meet both operational needs and compliance standards, including industrial relations and Trade Control requirements
- Strengthen cultural cohesion grounded in core values: integrity, respect, accountability, safety, excellence, and care
- Provide strategic insights and translate HR objectives into actionable plans for leadership and embedded teams
- Lead change initiatives using structured methodologies and promote continuous improvement across people processes
- Support capability development and ensure compliance with security and legislative obligations
- Undertake domestic and international travel to engage with stakeholders and support delivery
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner in an operational capacity
- Strong understanding of HR functions within a People and Safety environment
- Experience in designing, documenting, and improving HR processes
- Familiarity with industrial relations legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
- Secondary HR qualification such as a Diploma in Human Resources (mandatory)
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance
- Experience in joint-venture or alliance settings is highly desirable
