ISTA Personnel Solutions South Africa is hiring a Senior Financial Accountant to provide comprehensive accounting support for a U.S.-based auditing firm. This is a fully remote position that requires you to work Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours and all South African and U.S. public holidays.
What You'll Do
- Prepare monthly financial statements and perform the general ledger close.
- Process and import payroll data, and reconcile all payroll-related accounts.
- Import sales, cash receipts, and census data; generate AR reports and reconcile accounts receivable to the trial balance.
- Analyze revenue variances and retroactive adjustments, posting related entries for bad debt and management fees.
- Manage accounts payable, including posting and reconciling prepaid expenses, depreciation, credit cards, petty cash, and closing the AP module.
- Reconcile all bank accounts and significant balance sheet items.
- Maintain fixed asset and loan schedules, accounting for long-term and short-term adjustments.
- Clear DTF items, related party transactions, benefits, and other outstanding account balances.
- Ensure all financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Statement of Cash Flows, and Equity) are fully reconciled.
- Prepare and submit the complete monthly financial statement package and accompanying notes.
- Prepare borrowing base certificates (BBCs) and compliance certificates.
- Handle census reporting, cash receipt assessments, and capital expenditure reimbursement schedules.
- Manage quarterly and annual tasks such as CAT tax, HUD filings, direct care filings, annual audits, tax return support, cost reports, workers comp, property tax declarations, and US Census Bureau reporting.
What We're Looking For
- 4–7 years of professional accounting experience.
- Proven expertise in month-end close procedures, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Solid understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and balance sheet management.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice to Have
- Accounting experience within the healthcare or skilled nursing facility (SNF) sector.
- Proficiency with Sage Intacct accounting software.
- Prior experience working with external auditors and preparing compliance filings such as BBCs, HUD reports, and cost reports.
