Purdue University is hiring a Senior Export Controls Analyst & Investigator to join its Research Security and Export Controls (RSEC) team. As a highly skilled compliance professional, you will play a critical role in ensuring the University’s compliance with federal sanctions and export control regulations, focusing on evaluating international activities, conducting assessments, and leading sensitive investigations.
What You'll Do
- Ensure University compliance with federal regulations including U.S. Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Controls sanctions, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and related nuclear and foreign trade regulations.
- Evaluate international activities and conduct export control assessments.
- Lead sensitive investigations related to sanctions and export controls.
- Collect, document, and evaluate information in a fast-evolving regulatory environment while maintaining institutional records.
- Translate findings into actionable compliance strategies.
- Collaborate with university stakeholders, including faculty, administrative units, and legal counsel, to ensure consistent adherence to federal and institutional requirements.
- Manage complex, high-stakes compliance matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Deliver results that have a significant impact on operational outcomes and institutional risk management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Four (4) years of professional experience in audits, investigations, sanctions and export control reviews, or related compliance roles.
- Demonstrated understanding of federal and state regulations relevant to research security.
- Proven ability to manage complex, sensitive investigations, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Familiarity with research administration and compliance within the context of sponsored programs.
- Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing complex data to support institutional decision making.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Sound independent judgment and decision-making capability.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
