PCL Construction / PCL Industrial Services, Inc. is looking for a Senior Estimator to join our Civil East District in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will apply your expertise to high-impact civil water and wastewater projects that support sustainable growth, working within our 100% employee-owned company where every employee has a stake in our success.
What You'll Do
- Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications for large hard-bid/lump sum, construction management, and design-build projects.
- Establish critical path schedules including milestone dates and completion timelines for large projects.
- Complete full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials for larger scopes.
- Lead pricing of general expense and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects.
- Complete as-bid estimates and trade buy-out strategies with the operations team.
- Assist in presenting estimates/proposals and prepare client presentations.
- Document all estimating information and archive it for transfer to the project team upon successful award.
- Conduct risk and opportunity analyses for review by the chief estimator.
- Liaise with external consultants and project management organizations to estimate project budgets and coordinate tender development.
- Monitor client project-specific success criteria, understand owner requirements, and provide creative solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, Trade experience, or equivalent.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with 12 months of onsite experience preferred.
- A proven track record of successfully leading pursuits valued up to $100 million in various delivery models.
- Experience with self-perform estimating and understanding productivity.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, and potential problems.
- Expert knowledge of bid preparation principles, including quantity take-off, trade contractor procurement, pricing, and bid closing.
- Expertise in understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models, including identifying risks and opportunities.
- Understanding of different bid processes and contract delivery types: Hard bid/lump sum, GMP, unit price, design-build, target prices, and construction management.
- Ability to lead successful teams.
- Resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Strong ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with owners, peers, and industry representatives.
