APAC Mississippi, Inc., a CRH company, is looking for a Senior Estimator to develop accurate project budgets and bid packages for construction projects. You will use project specifications, past cost data, and takeoffs to project materials, equipment, and labor. This role assists the Estimating Manager in coordinating work for DOT, Federal Highway, and municipal projects.
What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed estimates by completing takeoffs, using historical cost data, and consulting with field personnel.
- Maintain files of supporting documentation for estimates, including current pricing from suppliers.
- Lead the estimating process for large projects valued between $1 million to $25 million independently.
- Serve as lead estimator on projects of $25 million or greater, coordinating with a team.
- Prepare detailed bid reports and communicate all aspects of awarded bids to field personnel.
- Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, quality, and material availability.
- Follow all company policies and safety regulations, including OSHA/MSHA, to ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
What We're Looking For
- Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience.
- Five to ten years of construction experience, specifically with DOT, Federal Highway, and city/state municipalities.
- Five to ten years of construction estimating experience.
- Five to ten years of construction management experience.
- Proficiency with estimating and bidding software, including experience with B2W, spreadsheets, and Takeoff software.
- Experience working with CADD files.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and group settings.
- Demonstrated professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in all professional interactions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to travel as needed for the role.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Proficiency with typing, keyboard use, and Database software.
