Temporal Technologies is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Enablement team within our Cloud Global Services (CGS) organization. This is a deeply technical, hands-on leadership role where you will combine strong people leadership with technical ownership of complex distributed systems to deliver critical Temporal Cloud capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Lead, grow, and support a team of engineers solving core distributed system problems.
- Set clear technical direction aligned with CGS and company-wide priorities.
- Remain hands-on and technically engaged in the codebase.
- Drive delivery of key Temporal Cloud capabilities, including High Availability namespaces, failover automation, and migration tooling.
- Establish a strong culture of operational excellence, ensuring features are observable, safe to operate, and production-ready.
- Own execution and outcomes: planning, prioritization, delivery, and follow-through.
- Partner closely with Product, Infrastructure, Cloud, and OSS teams.
- Mentor and develop engineers, providing technical guidance, career growth support, and actionable feedback.
- Lead incident response, postmortems, and reliability improvements for team-owned systems.
What We're Looking For
- Strong background as a senior or staff-level software engineer before moving into management.
- Deep experience building and operating distributed systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Comfort working hands-on in complex, concurrency-heavy codebases.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams that deliver production-grade cloud services.
- Strong understanding of replication, failover, and migration concepts in distributed systems.
- Proven ability to drive execution with a bias for action in ambiguous or fast-moving environments.
- Experience coaching engineers through technically challenging work and operational ownership.
- Clear, pragmatic communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience leading teams responsible for high availability, disaster recovery, or data migration systems.
- Familiarity with Temporal, workflow engines, or event-driven systems.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes-based environments.
- Prior experience managing teams that contribute to or maintain open-source infrastructure.
