Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and mentor a globally distributed team of database internals engineers, overseeing hiring, performance management, career growth, and team well-being.
- Drive team execution and define the technical roadmap in collaboration with Product, managing priorities while balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with the Platform Engineering team and other engineering leaders to deliver an exceptional customer experience on Tiger Cloud.
- Engage with high-value customers on escalations and advanced technical needs, translating their feedback into actionable priorities for your team.
- Serve as an enthusiastic and personable leader who sets high standards and contributes to the success of the broader engineering organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years managing engineers or engineering teams.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver industrial-strength systems software.
- Strong technical expertise in distributed systems or databases.
- Solid knowledge of SQL, query processing and database engines, concurrency control, data replication, and/or distributed systems.
- Passion for building highly reliable system software and for developing the people who build it.
Nice to Have
- Experience with C/C++ on large code bases is highly desirable but not required.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals is a strong plus but not required.
- Hands-on expertise in C and PostgreSQL internals is a strong plus but not required.
