About the Role

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU) is seeking a Senior Engineer and Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary transportation civil design projects and drive business development in Colorado, Utah, and the Mountain West Region. The ideal candidate will be a leader, strategist, and industry connector with a strong network in the transportation sector, responsible for project delivery, client relationship building, and mentoring junior staff.

What You'll Do

  • Lead multidisciplinary projects within the transportation civil design group
  • Actively drive business development in Colorado and Utah
  • Manage the successful delivery of projects ensuring quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met
  • Collaborate with practice leaders and technical staff across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide strong client service and cultivate long-term partnerships through consistent communication and problem-solving
  • Lead or contribute to project scoping, budgeting, and QA/QC reviews
  • Be a technical resource for junior staff and an industry expert in specific technical areas within the transportation civil design group
  • Assist in executing a regional business development strategy aligned with FHU’s goals
  • Leverage established relationships with public agencies, municipalities, CDOT, UDOT, and/or private sector clients to generate project leads and secure new work
  • Actively engage in networking events, professional associations, and industry conferences to elevate FHU’s visibility
  • Identify and track leads, support go/no-go decisions, and lead proposal strategy and development
  • Coordinate and lead pursuit teams, including premarketing efforts, interviews, scoping and contract negotiations
  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff in client engagement and pursuit strategies
  • Act as a local ambassador of FHU’s mission and values, contributing to a positive and inclusive office culture
  • Partner with Office Leads and Regional Directors on strategic hires and staff development
  • Inspire and develop the next generation of leaders by providing guidance and mentorship to emerging project managers and junior staff

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary projects in transportation civil design
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project delivery including quality, schedule, and budget
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Experience in project scoping, budgeting, and QA/QC reviews
  • Ability to serve as a technical resource and industry expert in transportation civil design
  • Experience in business development within the transportation industry
  • Established professional network with public agencies, municipalities, CDOT, UDOT, and/or private sector clients
  • Experience leading or contributing to proposal development and pursuit strategies
  • Proven ability to lead pursuit teams including premarketing, interviews, scoping, and contract negotiations
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience with junior staff and emerging project managers
  • Ability to act as a cultural ambassador and contribute to inclusive team culture
