About the Role
This role involves delivering practical legal advice on employment issues, supporting compliance, investigations, policy development, and organizational growth while aligning with business objectives and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Advise on employee relations matters including performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws across multiple jurisdictions
- Lead internal workplace investigations into employee complaints or policy violations
- Draft, review, and update employment policies, handbooks, and contractual agreements
- Collaborate with HR teams to ensure consistent application of employment practices
- Provide legal input on workforce restructuring, reorganizations, and redundancy processes
- Assist in resolving disputes involving employees or former employees
- Partner with global teams to align employment practices with regional legal requirements
- Stay current on evolving labor and employment regulations and communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities from an employment law perspective
- Advise on classification of workers, including independent contractors and full-time employees
- Help manage risks related to harassment, discrimination, and workplace safety claims
- Contribute to the development of training programs for managers on legal compliance topics
- Work closely with external counsel when cross-border or specialized legal expertise is required
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and regulations
- Support the implementation of new HR systems or tools with legal oversight
- Participate in onboarding and offboarding process design to maintain legal safeguards
- Monitor legislative changes affecting remote work, leave policies, and accommodations
- Provide guidance on cross-border employment scenarios and international assignments
- Assist in responding to government audits or inquiries related to employment practices
- Promote a culture of compliance and ethical decision-making within people operations
- Evaluate potential legal risks in proposed people initiatives before rollout
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data in accordance with privacy laws
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts through legally sound frameworks
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on day-to-day people-related legal questions
