About the Role
The role involves managing electrical engineering aspects of substation projects from concept through detailed design and construction support, with a focus on innovation, safety, and adherence to industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical substations for power transmission and distribution networks
- Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and system analyses for substation projects
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Ensure designs comply with relevant Irish and international electrical standards
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and protection engineering disciplines
- Manage project deliverables within schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support team development
- Review contractor and vendor documentation for technical accuracy and compliance
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and safety audits
- Support construction teams with site inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout plans
- Apply industry software tools for modeling and simulation of substation systems
- Ensure electromagnetic compatibility and safety clearances in designs
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders
- Engage with clients and regulatory bodies on project requirements and approvals
