Leads the design, development, testing, and modification of electrical systems and engineering solutions. Creates schematics, manages technical documentation, and ensures adherence to North American and international standards. Collaborates with cross-functional teams and supports manufacturing to meet project timelines and budgets.
Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and execute electrical systems and products.
- Document specifications, schematics, and diagrams throughout all stages of design.
- Generate progress reports and technical details for management review.
- Support manufacturing by providing electrical expertise to prevent and resolve production issues.
- Design and configure new electrical systems, including creating models and simulations.
- Test newly developed systems and implement design improvements as necessary.
- Organize and arrange components within control panels, separate AC/DC/voltage circuits, and calculate cooling needs based on heat output and panel size.
- Perform calculations for cable sizing, wiring, overloads, transformers, and power supplies.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for project-related duties.
Requirements
- Skilled in using CAD drafting software and SAP systems.
- Thorough understanding of North American electrical standards including NFPA, NEC, UL/cUL, and CSA.
- Familiarity with international and European standards such as IEC and CE.
- Solid grasp of various motor types including DC, AC (DOL, Y-Delta, VFD), stepped motors, and single-phase versus three-phase systems and their applications.
- Experience working in agile project environments.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Proven experience working in multi-functional teams.
- Validated experience in designing and building electrical panels.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field.
- More than 10 years of experience in hardware design, including analog/digital circuits, panel layout, and low-voltage AC/DC systems.
