Leidos is hiring a Senior Distribution Engineer to lead the development of electrical distribution work packages and perform critical engineering design and analysis for electric utility projects. You will play a key role in ensuring quality, interacting directly with clients, and providing engineering support throughout the construction process.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development of electrical distribution work packages.
- Perform engineering design and analysis, potentially including programmatic, capital, and reliability design work.
- Handle QAQC tasks on your assigned team and participate in quality reviews of design packages.
- Review engineering design packages with clients and organize existing program work.
- Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to advocate for client priorities.
- Interact directly with clients on a frequent, as-needed basis.
- Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and assist with work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.
- Work comfortably in both field and office settings, conducting site visits to collect data.

What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of relevant experience working on electric distribution projects in a consulting environment or directly at an electric utility.
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution; additional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Proven experience and proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Experience with engineering design quality control.
- Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, Pole Foreman) and distribution pole analysis.
- Ability to utilize a personal vehicle for customer-related travel (reimbursed at IRS-approved rates).
- Willingness to perform both field and office work, including in outdoor environments.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
Nice to Have
- Previous QAQC experience.
- Experience providing estimated costs, developing BOMs, and calculating CIAC.
- Demonstrated history of customer interaction.
- Proficiency with STORMS software and GIS.
- Prior leadership experience.
