Cohere is hiring a Senior Director, Solutions Architecture — Americas

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing Solutions Architecture organization across the US and Canada, growing senior technical talent.
  • Take personal accountability for the technical outcome of the region's most strategic pursuits, being present for the most critical ones.
  • Lead how the company positions, proves, and sells into US enterprises, the largest commercial opportunity.
  • Increase the share of the region's pipeline that the team technically leads, ensuring early engagement on key opportunities.
  • Partner with regional Sales leadership as a co-owner of the region's revenue target, not as a support function.
  • Define the vision, strategy, and operating model for Americas Solutions Architecture, holding leaders accountable for delivery and execution.
  • Establish scalable solution-selling methodologies, industry playbooks, executive narratives, business cases, and technical delivery frameworks to improve consistency and win rates.
  • Guide customers in designing secure, scalable, production-ready agentic AI solutions across cloud, hybrid, VPC, and on-premises environments.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to translate customer feedback and market needs into platform improvements and roadmap priorities.
  • Attract senior technical field talent and continue to build the bench as a core part of the role.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in Solutions Architecture, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Enterprise Architecture, including 7+ years leading customer-facing technical teams, with a record of developing people into senior and leadership roles.
  • Proven record of hiring, coaching, and developing high-performing Solutions Architecture or Solutions Engineering teams, and building or transforming an organization rather than inheriting a healthy one.
  • Executive presence: credible in front of CEOs, business leaders, CIOs, CAIOs, and CISOs, able to move between business case and architecture without losing either audience.
  • Hands-on technical credibility: technical enough to be believed by a strong engineering bench, works with models and agents, can pressure-test architecture, and be the most useful person in a design conversation.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with enterprise Sales leadership, influence strategic deals, and articulate business value to executive stakeholders, with a track record of carrying a number and personally moving deals.
  • Experience leading complex enterprise solution engagements, developing business cases, implementation plans, and executive-ready recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, including large language models, agentic systems, retrieval, enterprise integrations, cloud platforms, hybrid and on-premises deployments, security, and governance.
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions in complex, regulated, or large-scale environments.
  • Record of contributing to decisions beyond own function and working effectively with Product and Engineering leadership.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or turning around a regional technical field organization with evidence of resulting change.
  • Background in enterprise AI, cloud, or data platform companies, or applied AI consulting organizations.
  • Experience supporting customers in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, energy, or the public sector.
  • Experience building repeatable solution-selling methodologies and helping generalist technical teams operate at a consistently high level.
  • Network of senior technical field talent that can be attracted to the company.
  • Experience operating in high-growth environments where speed, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration are critical.

Benefits

  • Weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or equivalent in local currency.
  • Full health and dental benefits, including a separate budget for mental health.

  • For those in the office: daily lunch program, snacks, and regular community and social events.
