Revolution Medicines is looking for a Senior Director, Research Informatics to lead a team supporting highly data-intensive research programs. You will be responsible for the evolution and operation of cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure, scientific data pipelines, and custom informatics software tools. You will partner with discovery scientists and data scientists to translate complex research needs into scalable informatics solutions that accelerate drug discovery.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Research Informatics team overseeing software engineering and informatics professionals.
- Define and implement the strategy for research data infrastructure, including SaaS platforms, cloud/on-prem computing, data capture and transformation, visualization and software tools.
- Collaborate with research stakeholders to gather informatics requirements, translate them into technical plans, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Oversee implementation, optimization, and support of scientific software (e.g., Benchling, Genedata Screener, Cenevo Mosaic, Certara D360, Revvity Signals or CDD).
- Drive internal software and data engineering efforts, including development of APIs, web-based apps, and automation of research workflows.
- Ensure robust data governance and compliance with internal standards and best practices.
- Manage external partnerships and vendors supporting outsourced software or data projects.
- Develop and maintain project plans, track milestones and deliverables, and provide regular updates to leadership and collaborators.
What We're Looking For
- BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Research Informatics, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of early discovery research needs and the DMTA cycle.
- Significant experience in scientific informatics or data engineering within biotech or pharmaceutical R&D, with a minimum of 16+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 14+ years with a Master’s degree or 12+ years with a Doctoral degree.
- Experience deploying and managing on-prem/cloud hybrid informatics solutions in AWS or Azure.
- Strong understanding of data model design, scientific data integration and data visualization best practices.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data lakehouse platforms such as Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with scientific data types (e.g., cell-based, biophysical and biochemical assays, multiomics, in vivo studies, imaging, cheminformatics).
- Track record of managing external partners or professional service providers on software or informatics projects.
- Experience in cloud-based HPC to support drug discovery.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with life science platform software development kits e.g., Benchling SDK.
- Experience with AI-Optimized Cloud HPC.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python & R.
- Experience with managed integrated development environments such as Posit & Knime Hub.
