Aecon Group Inc. is looking for a Senior Director, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) to join its Urban Transportation Solutions group. You will provide strategic direction and oversight for all EHS programs on dynamic, complex transit projects across Canada and internationally, ensuring the highest standards of safety performance and a strong safety culture.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic leadership and governance for EHS performance across Aecon’s Urban Transportation Solutions portfolio.
- Establish and drive a best-in-class EHS management system.
- Act as the senior EHS authority for executive leadership, joint venture partners, clients, and regulators.
- Ensure adequate EHS resources are in place in partnership with operations leadership.
- Drive consistent implementation of Aecon's EHS strategy, vision, and programs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of EHS professionals.
- Oversee compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Provide leadership in hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of safety programs, environmental plans, and incident prevention initiatives.
- Oversee audits, inspections, investigations, and regulatory reviews.
- Review, approve, and oversee the development of HSE plans, procedures, and reporting frameworks.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, government inspectors, subcontractors, and the public.
- Represent the company in meetings with clients on workplace health and safety matters.
- Develop and maintain a network of industry-wide contacts.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance to operational leadership.
What We're Looking For
- Proven senior leadership experience in environment, health, and safety within complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- Expert knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic EHS management systems.
- Strong experience in risk assessment, hazard identification, and mitigation planning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with executives, partners, and regulators.
- Experience leading and developing a team of EHS professionals.
- Ability to drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
