Co-operators is hiring a Senior Data Analyst

About the Role

Co-operators, a leading Canadian financial services co-operative, is looking for a Senior Data Analyst. You will join our Business Intelligence team to empower decision-making by decomposing complex business objectives into solvable data problems. This role combines hands-on analysis with coaching to support your team's growth.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop metrics to enable descriptive and diagnostic analysis.
  • Autonomously design proofs of concept and deliver prototype analytical solutions to enable effective storytelling.
  • Perform data querying, extraction, cleaning, reconciliation, and preparation for analysis.
  • Participate in the end-to-end production implementation process for analytical solutions.
  • Understand business partners' expectations, objectives, and pain points, communicating them clearly to the team.
  • Conduct business data modeling and design logical data models.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the insurance business domain.
  • Exercise critical judgment to determine how to address business objectives with data analysis.
  • Autonomously communicate findings to colleagues and your manager effectively.

What We're Looking For

  • 6–9 years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence or a related domain.
  • University Degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis, programming/tools, modeling techniques, data warehouse management, research, and architecture/design.
  • Proven experience solving complex problems by taking new perspectives on existing solutions and providing clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Azure Synapse.
  • Proficiency in English.

Nice to Have

  • ACAS or FCAS designations.
  • Experience with Databricks, Python, MicroStrategy, and Power BI.
  • Proficiency in French.
