About company
FSG, Social Impact Advisors
FSG is a global nonprofit driven by the belief that every person has the right to live in a fair, just and equitable society that provides opportunities for growth, advancement, and fulfillment. At FSG, we work towards this future by addressing the systems and structures that can unlock health equity, climate justice, and economic mobility. Founded in 2000 by Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School and Mark Kramer, FSG began its work advising the world’s leading philanthropic organizations on how to best leverage their resources to improve lives around the world. We have partnered with a range of foundations, including private, community, family, corporate, and health conversion foundations, to develop organizational strategy, conduct evaluation, and build cross-sector coalition development or strategy. Our work is often place-based and seeks to create fair and just opportunities for well-being at the community level. Initiatives such as Collective Impact Forum and GLOW help us deliver this local impact. As FSG’s influence and impact increased, we evolved our efforts to include advising corporations beyond their philanthropic strategies, fueled by the introduction of shared value in 2011. For more than a decade, FSG has been providing consulting services for CSR, ESG, and shared value efforts to some of the largest companies around the world. This body of work is driven by the fundamental belief that business and society are mutually dependent, and the private sector plays a pivotal role in addressing some of society’s most pressing problems and can do so in a way that creates competitive advantage for the company and sustainable change for society. Today, FSG is led by John Harper, who took the CEO role in January 2024. He is a visionary, trusted, and exceptional people-centered leader with deep experience advancing equity. He brings a commitment to equitable systems change and a strong intersectional approach to the work as he leads FSG in its next chapter of social impact. FSG has operations in the US and India. The US has offices in Boston, MA, and Washington, DC, with most of its staff working remotely. The India team is based in Mumbai, where FSG has an office.
