About the Role
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations across mortgage lending activities in the Pacific region. The specialist will conduct audits, deliver training, and advise leadership on regulatory developments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor mortgage operations to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations
- Conduct regular compliance audits of loan files and operational procedures
- Identify regulatory risks and recommend corrective actions
- Deliver compliance training to regional staff and leadership
- Stay current on changes in mortgage-related laws and regulations
- Prepare reports on compliance findings and remediation efforts
- Collaborate with internal departments to align practices with regulatory standards
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations
- Review advertising and marketing materials for regulatory compliance
- Assist in implementing new compliance policies and procedures
- Evaluate loan documentation for accuracy and regulatory alignment
- Track compliance issues and ensure timely resolution
- Serve as a regional point of contact for compliance matters
- Work with legal counsel on complex regulatory interpretations
- Maintain compliance records and audit trails
- Support internal and external audit processes
- Promote a culture of compliance across the region
- Evaluate third-party vendor practices for regulatory adherence
- Assist in the development of compliance dashboards and metrics
- Ensure proper licensing and registration of personnel
- Monitor changes in state-specific mortgage regulations
- Provide guidance on fair lending and consumer protection laws
- Conduct root cause analysis of compliance failures
- Support incident response and escalation protocols
- Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in law, business, or public policy
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) credential
- Experience in a national mortgage lending environment
- Prior work with regulatory agencies during examinations
- Familiarity with enterprise risk management frameworks
- Advanced knowledge of state-specific compliance requirements in CA, OR, WA
- Experience mentoring or coaching compliance staff
