First American is looking for a Senior Claims Counsel – Title Insurance to join our team. This remote position offers the opportunity to manage all aspects of claims, providing complex legal analysis, creative problem-solving, and high-level negotiation.
What You'll Do
- Investigate claim facts and issues, determine coverage, evaluate loss, assess defenses, and manage the claim through final resolution.
- Negotiate settlements and resolutions with claimants, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Manage the claim budget, review outside counsel invoices, and determine settlement and expense reserves.
- Direct outside counsel on litigation strategy throughout the claim administration process.
- Appear as a company representative in court proceedings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Identify and evaluate sources for recovery.
What We're Looking For
- A Law Degree is required.
- Must be admitted to practice law in the United States.
- Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in any state of the United States.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement resolution strategies to fully conclude a claim.
- Experience handling claims and title insurance coverage.
- Ability to work independently and exhibit originality and ingenuity in finding solutions.
- Takes initiative, uses sound judgment, makes independent decisions, is a team player, and possesses excellent analytic and legal skills to distill complex issues.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $126,100.00 - $168,125.00
