About the Role
This position involves leading field studies, conducting data analysis, and preparing technical reports related to aquatic ecosystems. The candidate will support environmental reviews, permitting, and restoration planning while working with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead field investigations focused on aquatic habitats and species
- Design and execute monitoring programs for water quality and biological communities
- Analyze ecological data and interpret results for project decision-making
- Prepare technical reports documenting methods, findings, and recommendations
- Support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance efforts
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and planners on integrated project teams
- Develop restoration and mitigation plans for aquatic environments
- Ensure adherence to scientific protocols and regulatory standards
- Manage project tasks, timelines, and deliverables
- Supervise junior staff during field and office work
- Conduct habitat and species surveys in freshwater and estuarine systems
- Assess impacts of infrastructure projects on aquatic resources
- Provide input on permit applications related to water bodies
- Use GIS and other tools to map and evaluate ecological conditions
- Stay current with scientific literature and regulatory changes
- Present findings to clients, agencies, and stakeholders
- Support development of proposals and project scopes
- Maintain accurate field records and data logs
- Coordinate logistics for field expeditions
- Apply statistical methods to ecological datasets
- Evaluate wetland boundaries and classifications
- Support climate resilience and adaptation studies
- Contribute to environmental management plans
- Ensure quality assurance in data collection and reporting
- Work in compliance with health and safety procedures
