Location: Kigali, Rwanda, or Remote Duration: 10 months Terms of Reference - Senior AI Software Specialist, Consultant The Opportunity We are recruiting an accomplished and highly motivated Senior AI Software Specialist for a 10-month contract. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge AI solutions designed to enhance citizen interaction with governmental services, including constructing robust service application capabilities and integrating advanced Voice AI technologies. Key Responsibilities: • Design and Development: Spearhead the creation, development, and implementation of scalable AI/ML models and LLM-based workflows utilizing frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent. • Voice AI Integration: Architect and incorporate Voice AI capabilities, emphasizing natural language understanding, speech recognition, and synthesis to create intuitive user experiences. • Service Application Engine: Construct core AI components guiding citizens through government service application processes, ensuring precision, security, and regulatory compliance. • Code Quality and Review: Generate high-caliber, efficient, well-documented code. Conduct comprehensive code reviews to maintain engineering standards and promote team best practices. • Deployment and Optimization: Collaborate closely with MLOps and DevOps teams to deploy AI software in production environments, monitoring and fine-tuning performance, latency, and resource efficiency. • Collaborative Engagement: Work alongside product managers, UX/UI designers, and subject matter experts to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver innovative features. • Technical Support: Provide expert guidance and troubleshoot complex challenges related to AI platforms and deployed services. Qualifications: Required Skills & Experience: • Senior-Level Expertise: Minimum 5+ years professional software development experience, with at least 2 years specialized in AI/ML engineering. • Programming Proficiency: Expert-level Python skills and experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). • NLP/Voice Mastery: Substantial experience in Natural Language Processing, Understanding, and proven track record implementing Voice AI or Speech-to-Text/Text-to-Speech solutions. • System Design: Demonstrated capability in designing production-grade, scalable distributed systems for AI applications. • Contract Performance: Proven ability to deliver high-quality results within compact, time-limited contract environments. Preferred Skills: • Government/public-sector technology platform experience • Containerization technology familiarity (Docker, Kubernetes) • Data security and privacy best practices knowledge Compensation will correspond with experience and qualifications, to be discussed during the interview process.
