LinkedIn is hiring a Senior AI Engineering Manager to lead the LinkedIn Ads AI team. You will be responsible for setting the strategy and technical foundation for using AI and LLMs to innovate our ad recommendation platforms, with a focus on building a new B2B recommendation engine leveraging LinkedIn's economic graph. You will lead a team of roughly 20 engineers.
What You'll Do
- Develop the strategy for a new technical foundation based on using AI and LLMs to innovate in ad recommendation platforms.
- Design technical solutions with actionable recommendations across Marketing and Sales ecosystems, creating a unified data flywheel that learns from advertiser outcomes.
- Evangelize the use of LLMs and AI in software development across the organization, establishing robust experimentation and measurement frameworks.
- Set technical vision, execution standards, and provide mentorship to raise the bar for applied ML rigor, system reliability, and real-world impact.
- Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to optimize retrieval and serving efficiency, including embedding optimization and adaptive caching.
- Attract world-class talent and provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members.
- Create an environment that values curiosity, diverse perspectives, and open dialogue.
What We're Looking For
- Masters in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience.
- 7+ years of industry experience.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
Nice to Have
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience.
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related fields.
- Experience with retrieval and context-heavy reasoning (RAG), fine-tuning small language models (SLMs), and customizing deep learning models for Ads ranking, retrieval, budget forecasting, and low-latency tasks.
Team & Environment
You will lead a team of roughly 20 engineers that includes both AI/ML and Full Stack engineers. The team structure includes one manager reporting to this role, in addition to multiple technical leads.
