Lead the financial backbone of a growing single-family office as the Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the SVP of Accounting & Finance. This role is central to maintaining accurate, timely financial records while actively reshaping how accounting is done through automation and intelligent systems.
What You’ll Do
- Manage daily bookkeeping and ensure all transactions across multiple entities are recorded accurately and in real time.
- Lead the monthly close process from start to finish—preparing journal entries, managing accruals, and maintaining prepaid schedules with precision.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheets using NetSuite and Ramp, ensuring full documentation and audit readiness.
- Oversee accounts payable, including invoice review, payment processing, and vendor account reconciliation.
- Process intercompany transactions and support clean consolidation for reporting purposes.
- Deliver reliable, reconciled data to support monthly financial reporting and KPI dashboards.
- Reduce close cycle time by identifying inefficiencies and implementing automated solutions.
- Develop live or near-real-time financial reporting tools to minimize manual data extraction.
- Apply AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to automate data entry, flag anomalies, classify expenses, and improve reconciliation speed.
- Design AI-driven workflows within NetSuite and Ramp to reduce repetitive work and increase accuracy.
- Use automation platforms such as Zapier or Make, along with no-code or light scripting tools, to connect systems and streamline operations.
- Continuously identify and eliminate manual, error-prone processes—treating inefficiency as a solvable challenge.
- Support annual audits and tax preparation, growing into greater responsibility over time.
- Help shape internal accounting policies suited to a private family office environment.
- Generate custom reports and evolve reporting infrastructure as needs expand.
- Assist on special finance projects and cross-functional initiatives as required.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting (audit or assurance) highly preferred.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA candidate or holder is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Assistant Controller in a lean environment with minimal support.
- Deep expertise in NetSuite and hands-on experience with Ramp or similar spend management platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, with experience in financial modeling and data analysis.
- Real-world experience applying AI tools to finance workflows—building or deploying systems that reduce manual effort.
- Strong numerical reasoning and ability to detect subtle discrepancies in complex financial data.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to perform under pressure and deliver consistently.
- Unwavering discretion when handling confidential financial and personal information.
