Mass General Brigham, through The McLean Hospital Corporation, is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment at McLean Hospital. You will provide protective services, respond to routine and emergency calls, and assist with day-to-day department operations, with a required availability for a specific 8-hour night shift on Fridays.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily operational functions as directed by the Security Supervisor or Dispatcher.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to all emergency requests for assistance and to all emergency, contingency, or disaster situations.
- Respond to non-emergency calls assigned by Supervisor or Dispatcher.
- Document all incidents after response and inform Dispatcher of actions taken.
- Complete all electronic incident reports objectively and submit them prior to end of shift.
- Utilize customer service skills and community policing philosophies to build relationships.
- Manage complex and emotionally charged situations to restore order and investigate activity.
- Conduct initial investigations into reports of suspicious activity or hazards.
- Take appropriate actions based on training, procedure, and legal requirements.
- Use effective de-escalation techniques when addressing disorderly or disruptive persons.
- Demonstrate reasonable application of physical force when necessary to contain a threat.
- Provide escorts to patients, visitors, and employees to ensure safety.
- Patrol hospital property and grounds, documenting deficiencies or policy violations.
- Ensure only authorized vehicles access controlled parking areas and document violations.
- Perform access control functions, enforcing identification and visitor policies.
- Perform Dispatch/Console duties as assigned, coordinating Security activities.
- Answer incoming phone calls, provide information, and transfer calls.
- Prioritize and assign responses to incidents and requests for assistance.
- Maintain chain of custody for property, evidence, and equipment turned in.
- Monitor all electronic security and fire systems from the Security Office.
- Notify Supervisor when additional resources are needed or systems fail.
- Perform services in accordance with the McLean Policy and Procedure Manual.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma.
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification (training provided).
- Ability to obtain and maintain CPI De-Escalation Training certification (training provided).
- Ability to obtain and maintain IAHSS Basic Officer Certification within the first 90 days (training provided).
Nice to Have
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field.
- 1-3 years of security or related experience.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $22.88 - $32.72/Hourly

This role is fully onsite at 115 Mill Street.
