About the Role
The role involves designing and implementing integrated electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, for government and critical infrastructure projects. The candidate will produce technical documentation, coordinate with engineering teams, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Design integrated electronic security systems for government and infrastructure facilities
- Produce system architecture diagrams and network layouts for security technologies
- Develop detailed engineering drawings and schematics for installation
- Specify hardware components for access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection
- Create bills of materials and equipment schedules for project procurement
- Perform system calculations for power, bandwidth, and network capacity
- Coordinate security system designs with other engineering disciplines
- Support the development of project specifications and technical submittals
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments for system integration
- Assist in the development of security system operation and maintenance manuals
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with project managers to meet schedule and budget goals
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases
- Troubleshoot design issues and recommend corrective actions
- Use AutoCAD and Revit for design documentation and modeling
- Integrate security systems with building management and IT networks
- Support cybersecurity assessments for networked security devices
- Participate in design reviews and client meetings
- Prepare as-built documentation following project completion
- Work with vendors to evaluate new security technologies
- Maintain design consistency across multiple project phases
- Ensure scalability and future expansion in system designs
- Apply risk assessment findings to system configurations
- Support physical security planning in coordination with design elements
